The PCOS Society of India organised the 4th Annual Congress, “The International Conference on Puberty and Adolescence in PCOS” on the 9th and 10th November 2019, at The TAJ Hotel, Santacruz, Mumbai.
The first day was dedicated to a Masterclass organized in collaboration with the International Society of Gynecological Endocrinology (ISGE), with Prof. Andrea Genazzani and his team. His team included Prof. Alessandro Genazzani from Italy, Prof. Sarah Berga from USA and Prof. Charles Sultan from France. Each session of the Masterclass was chaired by National Experts who updated our delegates with the recent research being carried out in India, besides moderating the discussions with the delegates.
The Opening ceremony in the evening had a brilliant video by Shri Sadhguru, a spiritual yoga expert who addressed the mental and physical stress faced by adolescent girls and women having PCOS. Our Guest Speaker Mrs. Ameera Shah shared some very useful insights on what are the challenges to be faced by us as doctors in the near future and how patient care and ethical business practice play a vital role today. A short talk by Mrs. Tanya Khubchandani Vatsa, who is a PCOS patient herself, who shared her life experience and her journey through pregnancy,was very enlightening.
Day two was all about the “Clinical dilemmas and Expert Opinions” on areas related to cosmetic issues, hormonal dysfunction, menstrual disturbances , hormones to be tested and the clinical relevance of the results, effects of vitamin D deficiency, use of inositols and oral contraceptive pills in adolescents with PCOS.
The academic content of the conference was highly appreciated by the 250 + delegates who participated in the meeting, delivered both by 5 international experts and national experts invited to the meeting.
The objective of this meeting was to update the delegates on the cutting edge research in adolescent PCOS and to solve all the practical and debatable clinical situations involving adolescents who have PCOS. Through this excellent meeting we were able to achieve our objective.
